As a postpartum doula I aim to make the transition into parenthood as smooth as possible by educating on newborn care and offering emotional and physical support to the family with a special focus on the Mom, making sure she is well nurtured so that she in turn can nurture her baby. When I had my daughter, Sheena, I was away from home with no family or friends to lean on for advice or simply to come over so I could rest a while. I felt alone and exhausted. This is true for a lot of families and the support of a postpartum doula makes all the difference while they adjust and mom recovers from birth.
